Krull knows how important it is for our community to look good. Unfortunately, our wallets don’t always live up to our ambitions. Think it’s impossible to look good on a budget? Well think again!
We also know that sooner or later everything comes back in fashion, and we’re getting more and more concerned with the environmental impact of fast fashion.
So today we are launching our recurring column GLASSA PÅ EN FEMMA aka FLY FOR FIVE, which manages to take care of all of the above.

Stylist-about-town RL Pearsall has been entrusted with our last, and only, spare 500SEK note with the challenge of shopping for, and styling, an on-trend look for less than 500 SEK!
Krull: Hello RL. What prepared you for this challenge?
RL: I am born and bred from generations of hard-working people who believe in value, quality craftsmanship and ‘making a dollar out of fifteen cents.’ My parents did not believe in over paying for anything, especially brand name clothing! And my mom particularly hated crowds and shopping. Naturally, shopping for brand names in crowded NYC became my sport of choice. For me, the rush of designer ‘shopping on a dime’ is only surpassed by the thrill of going home with a great find!
Krull: What are the best and worst parts about budget shopping?
RL: Shopping on a budget can be time-consuming and exhausting. It may take a bit longer to shop when you can’t swipe at full price. There are lines, limited selection of sizes and sometimes poor displays of merchandise (and child-like behavior) to battle. But to the victor goes the spoils! If you succeed, you’ll have a good story to tell, gain some industry knowledge and perhaps even find a one-of-a-kind piece.
Krull: What difficulties did you experience in meeting the challenge in Stockholm?
RL: Stockholm is more limited in retail options compared to shopping in NYC. The local pricing strategies also pose difficulties. But knowing where to look and what to look for, I was sure that I would succeed.
Krull: So how well did you do?
RL: In this first installment, I not only took on the 500 SEK challenge but I upped the ante! I sought to maximize the number of looks I could find, all within one trend and from one store. I ended up with four full looks and 5 SEK in change to spare. How’s that?
Krull: Genius! Tell us a little bit about the looks.
RL: I was inspired by the ‘return of the 90s’ trend. And it wouldn’t be the 90s without references to Versace, Naomi and her Supermodel Six pack. Naomi far exceeded the 500 SEK budget! But I was able to find some Versace Jeans denim and referential, modern party looks.
Krull: Thanks for the chat and cool looks. We can’t wait to see you next time!
