They say a picture says more than a thousand words. But many times we
need words to fully understand the true story behind everything we see.
This fashion story, “Our hijab stories,”  is our humble attempt to do
that.

On these images of our beautiful model, Naima, are 10 quotes from 10
hijab-wearing Muslim women living in Sweden.
More often than not, women in minority groups get spoken ABOUT but not
spoken TO. We make up our own judgment and often don’t take the next
step to find out the truth and communicate. Because of all these
misunderstandings and miscommunications, we live in a world where
people hate each other simply because we are different.
That hate is so strong, it gets more than 1 million Muslim Uighur locked
up in concentration camps, tortured mentally and physically in China.
That hate gets two hijab-wearing women in France killed. That kind of
hatred caused women from these quotes to fight every day for their right
to just simply wear what they want and be who they are.

It was an honor to have Naima as the model for this project. A
Muslim woman from Somalia living in Sweden who’s a driven entrepreneur
owning her own company helping startups to create their dreams. Her
strength and wisdom makes her a role model for so many young people from
different backgrounds. As she is also a mentor for new young refugees,
she’s dealing with young girls and boys coming to Sweden desperately
wanting to be accepted and feel safe in their new home.
Let’s make OUR home a more tolerant and loving place. As only light can
steal darkness. Violence is never the solution to violence.
